Arra Rovers 3 - Rearcross 'A' 2

Rearcross 'A' were defeated 3-2 by Arra Rovers in this league encounter played at a blustery Portroe venue last Sunday morning, Rearcross led two nil with twenty five minutes remaining in the game, however complacency allowed the home side back in to the game and the full price was paid, Rearcross made a strong start and Diarmuid Sheehy forced a save out of the Arra custodian in the 8th minute, Rearcross came close again midway through the half when Nigel Ryan's effort skidded just wide. Sean Sheehy saved well minutes late and then Sean Mullins made room to get in a shot. Sean Sheehy raced of his line with eighteen minutes remaining and made a well timed body save to deny Arra. Nigel Ryan released Sean Mullins on the left flank in the 42nd minute, however the resulting effort pulled to the left of the Arra upright. Arra Rovers playing against the wind in the second and made the first incision, Sean Sheehy reacted well and grasped the ball on the second attempt. Rearcross went ahead in the 53rd minute when Diarmuid Sheehy collected the ball in the middle of the field and sent a pile driver to the back of the net from outside the eighteen yard box. Rearcross were two nil in front four minutes later when a long delivery from Sean Sheehy saw PJ McLoughlin advancing on goal and slotting home from close range. Rearcross hit the self destruct button after this and Arra reduced the deficit in the 65th minute when a long range free was flicked to the net by Liam Sheehy amidst confusion in the Rearcross rearguard, Arra were showing the greater hunger at the this stage and levelled with eighteen minutes remaining when Pat Power converted from the penalty spot, John Hogan put Arra ahead on 77 minutes with a fine individual goal, Rearcross might have shared the spoils in the end when PJ McLoughlin's effort from out on the left ricocheted off the woodwork with two minutes remaining, however Arra went on to hold out for the win.
