An understrength under 11 team travelled to Ballina on Saturday last for this league encounter. Rearcross dominated the first 20 minutes of of the game but despite being camped in the opponents half of the field, were unable to break through a strong Lough Derg defence. However as the game approached half time the home team made their first attack on goal. Their forward rounded the keeper they but was denied a goal when Adam Hurley got back to clear off the line. The second half started with both teams trying to gain a foothold on the game. However the home team were rewarded after 10 minutes when a shot on goal was deflected by a Rearcross defender to give the keeper no chance. The away team attacked in vain for the remainder of the game but were unable to breach a resolute Lough Derg defence and the home team held on to win 1 nil on the day.
