Rearcross 'B' progressed to the Shield semi-final with a somewhat
easier than expected victory over rivals Birdhill in this shield fixture played
at the Dublin Road venue last Sunday, Liam Nolan(B) opened the account for
Rearcross with a clinical finish on the ten minute mark, Nigel Ryan then put
Rearcross two in front two minutes later with a well taken goal, Birdill managed
to pull a goal back after slack defending from the visitors, Ollie Kennedy
then made two vital saves when the game was on a knife edge, Nigel Ryan was
to the fore for Rearcross and grabbed his second five minutes before the half
time whistle with well converted goal after a sustained period of Rearcross
pressure. Rearcross were in control for most of the second half and Joey Nolan
put the issue beyond doubt with four minutes remaining with an opportunist
goal to round off the 4-1 victory for Rearcross.
