Rearcross 'B' 3 - Silvermines 1

Rearcross 'B' were at home to a strong Silvermines side last Sunday morning and had to battle all the way to claim maximum points, Rearcross made a bright start but had to wait until the 20th minute for the breakthrough when Declan O'Toole headed Thomas Kennedy's corner kick between the posts, James Nolan, Davy Ryan Luke and Eamon Devitt were enjoying the better of the exchanges at this stage and Rearcross were unlucky not to edge further ahead, the visitors were back in the game in the 33rd minute when Mattie Ryan turned on the edge of the eighteen yard box and sent a superb effort to the corner of the net. The visitors made a determined start to the second half and had the Rearcross rearguard on the back foot, however the storm was weathered and Rearcross took the lead for the second time midway through the half when Thomas Kennedy's inch perfect cross from out near the corner flag was headed with precision to the roof of the net by an in form Declan O'Toole, the momentum was with Rearcross at this stage and Liam Ryan made it 3-1 on the 74th minute mark with a side footed effort to the corner of the net from a tight angle, to cap of a well earned victory where Val Kennedy and Anthony Ryan turned in admirable defensive performances.
